RVMC Welcomes Rebecca West

Updated: Nov 6, 2020

The Ruby Valley Medical Center is pleased to welcome Rebecca West as the new Chief Financial Officer. Ms. West succeeds Jeanne Gunderson who has been the interim Chief Financial Officer. As Chief Financial Officer, Ms. West is responsible for the financial health and performance of Ruby Valley Medical Center including cashflow management, auditing and participating in the strategic planning process.

Ms. West moved to the Ruby Valley from Casper, Wyoming, where she was the Chief Financial Officer for the Wyoming Behavioral Institute. Prior to her employment at Wyoming Behavioral Institute, she was Controller and Chief Financial Officer of the Mountain View Regional Hospital & Clinic, also in Casper. Ms. West has diligently worked through increasingly demanding positions in healthcare accounting. Her experience includes Accounting Manager and Senior Accountant at HCA Physician Service Group in Brentwood, Tennessee and Senior Accountant at Parallon Business Solutions, a healthcare services provider in Franklin, Tennessee. Ruby Valley Medical Center’s CEO, Landon Dybdal said, “We’re very fortunate to have Rebecca’s extensive healthcare financial experience and encouraging disposition for our administrative team.” Ms. West also worked for the State of Tennessee on the Edison Project, executing the functional implementation of the Peoplesoft Financial general ledger system. She is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro.

Although Ms. West started life on the east coast in Maine, she spent much of her adolescence and teen years in the west. After graduating from high school in Alaska, she lived in Boise, Powell, Wyoming, Kalispell and Belgrade. The “West” in general, and Montana in particular, became a magnet for Ms. West after she moved to Tennessee for college. “After we got married, I told my husband that I want to go back to the West. It just took us a while!” said West. After working at Glacier Park for a summer, she felt that Montana was the best choice for her because it is very similar to Alaska but without the isolation.

Ms. West and her husband love animals. They currently care for 2 horses, five goats and three dogs. When she’s not riding or caring for animals, Ms. West enjoys gardening and fly fishing.
