I Feel Like a Person, Not a Number

In January, 2015, I was suffering from afib (atrial fibrillation – quivering or irregular heartbeat). I had shortness of breath and didn’t feel good at all. The hospital staff took me right into the ER to work on stabilizing me as my heart really wasn’t doing well. Dr. Hendrickson and the nurses were very concerned about my condition and there was a possibility I would have to be airlifted to another medical facility. However, the first order of business was to get me stabilized and the medical staff took care of that. Fortunately, Dr. Hendrickson was able to resolve the problem at the Ruby Valley Hospital. They kept me overnight to monitor my condition and the medication. I had a follow-up with Dr. Hendrickson at the clinic the next day and he arranged for me to see a cardiologist.

It was a stressful situation and it would have been far more stressful if I had needed to get to Dillon or Butte. I’m very pleased with my care at the Ruby Valley Hospital. The staff is much more concerned about what you’re in there for than about filling out a bunch of paperwork. It’s nice, local and I feel like a person, not a number.
