David Krause joined the Ruby Valley Emergency Medical Services team as their Lead Paramedic in the summer of 2017. David and his wife, Michelle, relocated to the Ruby Valley from Lafayette, Louisiana, inspired by the opportunity to develop a community paramedic program.

David knew he wanted a career in emergency medicine in the 1970’s when he became fascinated with the television show, Emergency. In 1982, he began riding with the ambulance service on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State as a Medical Scout. He completed his paramedic training at the Center for Emergency Medicine in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. David is certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) and is a National Registered Paramedic.

David has acquired a wide range of interesting certifications, skills and experiences in addition to emergency medicine. He has instructor certifications in Swiftwater Rescue, High Angle Rescue and Wilderness and Remote medicine. He was an instructor-trainer for high-angle rope rescue, confined space rescue, accident investigation and remote medical courses in Africa, the Middle East and Mexico. His employment also includes management of development and training of Field Competency Coaches for Chevron in the Gulf and Mexico and Medical Care Person in Charge on board a ship of 220 crew in the Bering Sea off Alaska.

David’s broad background and experience will be a tremendous asset to the Ruby Valley Emergency Medical Services team.
