The Ruby Valley Medical Center Auxiliary's mission is to assist the Ruby Valley Medical Center in their endeavors to provide quality health care to the people living in the Ruby Valley, surrounding areas and visitors. We strive to support financially and physically with the needs of the hospital district.
The Auxiliary was formed in 1961 assisting the Ruby Valley Hospital's building fund with $70,000 canvassed from the Valley. Raffles, rummage sales, movies, dances, calendar sales, and bazaars were held to provide equipment and supplies for the new hospital. The ladies made dressings and bandages. They also oversaw the Candy Stripers.
In 1984, the clinic fund was started with the Auxiliary giving $30,500 towards the building fund and assisting in furnishing the clinic. In 1992, $5,000 was given towards a refurbished x-ray machine. In 1993, the Ruby Valley ReRuns Thrift Shop was opened and has provided much needed service to the community, as well as a great fundraiser for the hospital. The ReRuns Shop has provided the bulk of our hospital monies and we owe a great debt to the volunteer workers that keep it running so efficiently. Monies were given toward physical therapy, laboratory, office, and maintenance equipment. In 2005, monies were donated toward a state of the art GE x-ray machine and in 2008, a computerized radiology system was installed in the diagnostic imaging department.
In 2009, the Auxiliary began a Medal Field Scholarship Program, awarding two $500 scholarships. The Auxiliary is proud to be able to help young individuals accomplish their dreams. In 2015, the Auxiliary donated $75,000 to the Capital Campaign for construction of the new Ruby Valley Medical Center.
Over the years, Ruby Valley ReRuns has been located in various storefronts on Main Street in Sheridan. In the summer of 2019, we moved to our permanent home in the "old bank building", located at the corner of Main and Mill Creek, thanks to a generous donation to the Ruby Valley Healthcare Foundation.
We are here for you, friends, neighbors and visitors to the Ruby Valley Medical Center.
